Playing horror games was a thing i enjoyed, and usually I avoided this type of games, but in Lucius case I had to give it a shoot although the thought of killing people while playing an innocent 6 year old kid didn't really land on my positive side.
So just to make sure you got what i said, I am not by any means the usual player of the genre and i mostly played the game for the sake of this review hoping to help the people who are thinking about getting the game know more about what they are getting into.
After you know a bit who I am let's get going with this review as you are born(Luciuos) a pact is being made with the devil and an evil shadow step into your buddy, we then jump off the cinematic into the Denta's mention when Lucius is now at the age of 6 and in this wonderful birthday, your real father comes to visit you, the devil(drums please), he subsequently starts giving you missions to kill people in the mention.
You kill your nanny by locking her in a giant freezer. The entire games revolve around the fact that you are an innocent young boy so as you plot away on how to kill people, you still need to go and brush your teeth before you go to bed and sleep by ten.
Any puzzle needs the pieces to fit and in Lucius its not different as you go around killing people you need to maintain the little innocent boy act and therefor you will need to orchestrate the killing and make people die without you being there, however as you progress in the game you will also get some demonic powers to help you out.
Every kill you execute correctly will make you stronger, at the start you will have only telekinesis, but after a while you can start throwing fireballs on people.
The game itself has a high level of details with an ok graphic nothing like Skyrim but still enough for this genre and if you consider the high details and the amount of items in the mansion the game gets a bundle of good points.
I always thought of horror type games as somewhat movie like games and it is the atmosphere in the game that should be terrifying, however i found the cutscenes just being to annoying, but then again it might just be me.
The fact that this is such a detailed game also come in and hurt the game in terms of loading times when moving to a new part of the mansion, this really hinders the horror feeling and moves you out of that terrifying world.
A disappointing fact about playing Lucius is that the murders or otherwise said the puzzles have only one way of being solved, and you can only move from a to b, in other words. They invested a lot in the game details, but when it came down to give us options of killing our marks, they left us with one possible way.
The game has a tendency to annoy me because the lack of in game clues and the fact that I can only perform my murder in one way.
Last words about the game, developed by Shiver Games, which overall did a nice job, and although I didn't enjoy this game so much, a fan of horror games will probably enjoy plotting all those murders.
